Azure Database for MySQL

SQL Server is not the only database you build and deploy into Azure. Another very popular option is MySQL. Going back many years, this was actually my first database technology that I ever used so its great seeing it within the Azure eco-system, it has always been a popular choice as seen below.

In Azure the engine is based on community edition and you usually have to select 2 options for deployment. These are single server or flexible server approach. Its fully managed service i.e. PaaS based, very much like Azure SQL server so you get all those lovely benefits on PaaS, but as mentioned the first question would be what deployment type to use which then will lead us into all other sorts of topics.

I intend on covering this as I have done Azure SQL Database, so hopefully you will join me.
