TSQL Tuesday time hosted by Ewald (https://sqlonice.com/tsql-tuesday-96-folks-who-have-made-a-difference/) and quite simply one man has morphed me into who I am today – Paul Randal. Over two years ago I was a one of many that had the chance to be mentored by him. It lasted just under one year and the effects were huge for me.
What a great topic for this month’s T-SQL Tuesday hosted by Kendra Little https://littlekendra.com/2017/08/01/tsql-tuesday-93-interviewing-patterns-anti-patterns/
The topic being: Interviewing Patterns and Anti-Patterns. I have had MANY (50 +) interviews over time with a lot of failures, so what have I learnt?
I am an IT Professional from the UK with interests in MS technology especially SQL Server and Azure. During 2015 I was mentored by Paul Randal from SQLskills.
I have written articles for SQL Server Central, TechNet, gathered data for SQLskills Waits and Latches Library. I have also helped the SQL Server product team with testing SQL Server vNext adaptive query processing feature. I am also a member of Microsoft’s Azure Advisors and SQL Advisors Group.
My aim is to help you in your day to day work or to reinforce specific areas that I am interested in, so I try to keep things short and simple.

I promised a recap/review on my first SQLBits event so I finally got around to it, hopefully you will find it useful (even though it was 2 weeks ago!)
I have never been to SQLBits (https://sqlbits.com/) before (due to budgets) but I am really looking forward to attending which is just over a week away. The Data Platform has evolved so much and this is the chance to get some quality training under my belt especially in areas I know I need a “refresh” in.
A non-technical post but something I have been asked about few times so I thought that I would put pen to paper and tell you about my journey on becoming a senior DBA. You might find it fun to read.
